Expats who are planning to travel to Brunei Darussalam for work may have some question in mind like i.e How to buy a car in Brunei Darussalam?
A brief understanding of what to expect when you are in Brunei Darussalam, working under a contract or work permit.
1) your employer will issue you a 2 years renewable contract and or a work permit from the government authority
2) to finance a car in one of the finance institution, you are required to present 3 months pay slip, a valid Brunei issued I.C (identification card) and a valid driving license issued here to the financial institution
There are currently two financial institution that are able to finance a used car and they are BIBD At-Tamwil and HSBC Finance.
Based on the financial institution policy, since you are only given a 2 years renewable contract, the financial institution will only be able to provide you with a maximum of 2 years installment. Take note that it will reflect on the monthly repayment for a vehicle.
Unless you are making a full cash purchase for a used car then you are only required to present a Brunei issued I.C and a driving license. You will be required to get your I.C and driving license endorsed first before the vehicle can be registered under your name.
